A virtuoso violinist, composer, and teacher, Antonio Vivaldi epitomized the Italian baroque in his home city of Venice.  Still, a grand destination to this day, this magical city, legendary for its commerce, carnivals, architecture, and intrigue, provided the perfect backdrop for his masterful concerti, sonatas, and sacred works.
