Ah Ling Neu, born in Japan of Chinese parents, studied at the San Francisco conservatory with Gennady Kleyman and in Holland with Nobuko Imai.
Neu's performances throughout the United States, Europe, Japan and Australia include the Marlboro Festival, Chamber Music/West, Tanglewood, the International Musicians' Seminar in England, the Spoleto Festival (Italy and the USA), the Schleswig-Holstein festival in Germany, and "Chamber Music at
the Y" in New York City.
A former member of the San Francisco Symphony and the Ridge String Quartet, she is presently the Principal Violist of the Brandenburg Ensemble and the Assistant Principal of the Brooklyn Philharmonic Orchestra. Ah Ling is also the newest permanent member of the North Country Chamber Players.
In addition to teaching viola at Columbia University, Neu has participated in Six Musicians from Marlboro tours and was a member of the New York Philomusica Chamber Ensemble for almost twenty years. Neu lives in Brooklyn and is the faithful chauffeur for her three children, Lia, Eliza and Jason.
